Shelf Companion: Quantity Custody and Inline Tag Creation
The Shelf Companion app (iPhone and Android) now handles quantity-tracked assets — read stock and assign or release exact units from the floor — and lets admins create tags inline while adding or editing an asset.
The latest Shelf Companion release (v1.1.0, live on the App Store and Google Play) brings quantity-tracked assets and faster tagging to the phone.
Quantity-tracked assets on mobile
Quantity-tracked assets — cables, gloves, and other pooled supplies managed by count — now show up in the app:
- A quantity pill on each pooled asset's row in the assets list.
- A quantity card on asset detail with the total plus a per-status breakdown — available, in custody, reserved, and checked out — and a row for each person showing how many units they hold.
- Assign a set number of units to a team member (capped at what's available to assign) and release units from a specific holder by tapping their custody row (capped at what they can release).
Individually tracked assets look and behave exactly as before.
Create tags without leaving the app
When adding or editing an asset, admins and owners can now type a name in the tag picker and tap Create tag "…" to create it on the spot — no round trip to the web app. The new tag is added to the workspace, applied to the asset, and available everywhere tags are used. Self-service members continue to pick from existing tags only.
Both features are available now — update to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
