Shelf Companion 1.6.0: iPad and Tablets, Extend a Booking, Book Units of Stock

Shelf Companion 1.6.0 is live on the App Store and Google Play. It is the first version built for tablets: on an iPad it runs as a real iPad app instead of an enlarged iPhone one, and on an Android tablet it fills the screen and rotates. On a larger tablet held sideways (and a 13-inch iPad either way), the tab bar becomes a sidebar on the left. Phones look the same as before.

The updates of 20 and 21 October also reached every phone, on 1.6.0 and on 1.5.0, without a trip to the store:

• Extend a running booking. On an Ongoing or Overdue booking, More actions → Extend booking moves the end later, with +1 hour, +4 hours and +1 day buttons for one-tap use on site.
• Book units of stock. A quantity-tracked asset is booked by count, from the picker or by scanning, capped at what is free for the booking's dates. Until units go out, the pencil on the row changes the number.
• What an asset is booked for. The asset screen has a Bookings section, with the booking it is out on now first.
• Close an audit with a note. Complete audit says how many unscanned assets will be marked missing and takes an optional closing note.
• Set the value on New asset, in your workspace currency.
• Search in long dropdowns. Dropdown fields with more than eight options get a search box.

The app picks up an update in the background when you open it and uses it from the next time you open it.
